About the School
Founded in 1982, Mountaintop Montessori sits on a beautiful 9-acre garden campus with expansive scenic views. As the oldest and only dual-accredited Montessori school through 8th grade in the Charlottesville area, Mountaintop provides the greater Charlottesville community with an authentic Montessori education complemented by a rich variety of co-curricular programs. In addition to learning indoors in carefully designed classrooms, Mountaintop students spend time outdoors running, playing, gardening, connecting, and tending to the wildlife habitat.
Mountaintop’s whole curriculum is organized to serve students’ developmental needs through carefully devised mixed-age classrooms. In each classroom, the true Montessori experience is nurtured through certified Montessori teachers, child-directed work, uninterrupted work periods, and a complete selection of Montessori materials.
