The Independence School

The Independence School is an independent, coeducational day school for preschool (age 3) through eighth grade. “Indy” provides an extraordinarily strong academic foundation and is dedicated to teaching the whole child, focusing on the emotional and physical needs of each student. The school celebrates each student as an individual and is a community committed to developing a culture of respect, understanding, compassion, and collaboration.

An Independence graduate reflects the mission of the school and will demonstrate independence, intellectual curiosity, and a true spirit for life-long learning and leadership.  Graduates will be positive members of their local and global communities.

The Independence School is accredited by the Middle States Association and is a member of the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS), Delaware Association of Independent School (DAIS), National Business Officers Association (NBOA), and National Association of Independence Schools (NAIS)

About the Position

The Board of Trustees has launched a comprehensive search for the next Head of School for The Independence School. The campus is located in the Pike Creek Valley just a few miles from Downtown Wilmington and about 30 minutes from the Philadelphia International Airport. The Board is seeking a caring, dynamic, and innovative educational leader for a position to begin in July 2023.
