Groves Academy, one of three parts of the Groves Learning ecosystem, is grades 1-12 and educates 275 students. There are 75 faculty and staff within Groves Academy. It is located in the charming suburb of St. Louis Park, MN in a space built for learning.

About this Leadership Opportunity

Groves Academy seeks a Director of Learning/Head of School who will effectively lead the day-to-day operations of the Academy while also cultivating an ethos of care, inspiring a relentless pursuit of innovative practice and a culture of possibility. This position is open for an interim Director of Learning/Head of School for SY 2024-2025 or permanent. The role being primarily responsible for teaching and learning, will also be the voice of inspiration and force behind professional learning. As this role does not have responsibility for Admissions or Development, it’s an ideal position for a seasoned Division Director with aspirations for a future Head of School role.  

With increased distance from the pandemic, Groves Academy is in a growth posture. There is robust energy from the faculty to elevate their practice to increasingly serve students and families. The community is joyful and a curiosity about “what’s possible” is near ubiquitous. 

To that end, the next leader, whether interim or permanent, will be asked to do or possess the following in service to the craft of teaching and the care of young learners/families…

The search for the Interim Director of Learning/Head of School role begins as of January of 2024 and will continue until the position is filled (anticipated March/April of 2024). Interested candidates should submit a complete dossier to the EC consultant.

Program Overview

Groves Learning Organization is the only one of its kind in the region. They are passionate educators using researched methods to unleash the potential in students. Through Groves Learning Center, we support students with diagnostic assessments, tutoring, speech-language services, and summer programs. Together with our pre-K–3 partner schools, Groves Literacy Partnerships shares our evidence-based literacy instruction with fellow educators so all students learn to read by 3rd grade. Groves Academy, grades 1-12,  is a renowned place of learning that nurtures and encourages brilliance within students with learning challenges. Academics at Groves Academy include a variety of instructional programs and approaches. They work with students to unleash their reading, writing, and math skills through transformative learning experiences using our evidence-based curriculum. They teach learning strategies to help students radiate success by breaking down complex academic tasks such as comprehension, written expression, and problem-solving.
