Throughout her career, Angela Brown has proven to be a leader schools trust with their most critical decisions–someone you want at the table.

For more than twenty-five years, heads of school, trustees, and leadership teams have sought her perspective. Through her work in independent schools and her contributions to professional organizations including AISAP, NAIS, EMA, NEMNET, and ISM, Angela has earned a reputation for helping institutions navigate complex challenges with thoughtful questions, strategic clarity, and an unwavering commitment to execution.

That reputation is perhaps best captured by Dana Hall Head of School Katherine L. Bradley, who wrote “I confidently rely on Angela as a thought partner.” She credits Angela with helping both her and the Board make stronger decisions, noting Angela’s remarkable ability to consider not only the immediate implications of an issue, but its impact “several degrees away in place or time.” 

At Dana Hall School, Angela served as Assistant Head for Admission and Strategic Initiatives, where she led enrollment, admission, financial aid, marketing, and branding strategy. She guided the Boston-area girls’ school through a period of significant brand refinement—not by changing who the school was, but by helping the community articulate its identity with confidence. 

This instinct for understanding what makes a school community thrive and helping others see that story clearly began early. As a twelfth grader at Phillips Academy, Angela was asked to take a prospective family to dinner—alone—to answer their questions and help them decide whether to enroll. Looking back, she marvels at the responsibility entrusted to a teenager. It foreshadowed the work that would come to define her career: listening carefully, understanding what matters most to people, and helping them see an institution clearly. 

Just one year after graduating from Amherst College, Angela stepped into her first administrative role as Director of Admissions at The Urban School of San Francisco, launching a career defined by moving diverse institutions beyond immediate challenges toward lasting, strategic solutions. 

Angela’s deep understanding of school ecosystems is built on decades spent at leadership tables across five remarkably different independent schools in three regions of the country. Her experience (encompassing boarding and day schools, urban and suburban campuses, progressive and traditional models, single-gender education, and both elementary and secondary structures) has taught her to think in systems rather than silos–to see the interplay between enrollment, culture, governance, academic program, and institutional identity. This acuity allows her to help schools move beyond immediate challenges toward lasting strategic change. 

Today, Angela brings that same perspective to Educators Collaborative clients. Whether leading a Head of School search, advising schools on enrollment strategy, helping recruit senior administrators, or coaching emerging leaders, she understands both the complexity of independent schools and the importance of finding leaders whose strengths align with a school’s mission and future aspirations.

Angela believes the strongest leaders are not the ones with definitive answers. They are the ones who ask the questions that compel an entire organization to discover its highest potential.
