Educators Collaborative is delighted to be assisting Preston Hollow Presbyterian School (PHPS) in Dallas in its Head of School search for a new leader to begin July 1, 2027. During its 64-year history, PHPS has gained a strong local reputation for the excellent service it provides to young students with learning differences and their families. Recent developments, particularly the move to a new campus and the addition of a middle school over the next three years, have positioned PHPS for even greater success.
Mission
The PHPS Mission reads, “Preston Hollow Presbyterian School provides a nurturing, highly personalized school environment that cherishes and supports qualified students with learning differences while challenging them to achieve their full potential. We are committed to facilitating our students’ return to mainstream education equipped with strategies for future learning experiences.”
Philosophy
PHPS provides a positive, nurturing, individualized approach to teaching. Their philosophy is rooted in the belief students will succeed and thrive if provided appropriate instruction in the right environment. The approach is not to simply accommodate the classroom environment for learning differences, but rather to modify what they teach and how they teach to best match a student’s unique learning profile.
Small classes of eight to twelve children, with additional support provided by remedial specialists and teaching assistants, ensure small group instruction and many opportunities for one-on-one instruction. Multi-sensory, research-based curricula provide an opportunity for each student to be challenged and excel. Besides classroom instruction, each child also receives physical education, music, art, science, and technology instruction. Students in grades K-2 also attend motor lab. Speech and language therapy is available at school but is not included in the tuition. Students attend a chapel service once a week.
The school program is designed to help each child grow academically, personally, socially, and spiritually in a positive and supportive atmosphere. The goal of PHPS is to build foundational skills so students may be successful in a traditional classroom environment.
