Spruce Street Nursery School, a vibrant early childhood program in downtown Boston, seeks a collaborative and detail-oriented Director of Finance to lead its financial and business operations. Partnering closely with the Director and Board, this individual will ensure strong financial stewardship, effective systems, and smooth day-to-day operations.
This role is ideal for a mission-driven professional who values both sound financial management and the relationships that sustain a small, community-centered school. The Director of Finance will bring technical expertise, organizational strength, and a collaborative mindset to a position that sits at the heart of the school’s operations and long-term sustainability.

Spruce Street Nursery School is a small nonprofit preschool serving children ages two through five. The Role
The Director of Finance leads all financial operations, human resources administration, and key business functions. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution in a small-school environment. Working closely with the Director and Board, the Director of Finance supports budgeting, financial reporting, and long-range planning, while ensuring that daily operations run smoothly. This is a hybrid position with both on-site and off-site responsibilities.

Spruce Street Nursery School offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan participation, free parking near the school, and paid time off.
The target salary range for this position is: $110,000 – $130,000.
