About the School
Billings is a school uniquely attuned to the needs of middle school learners, with a focus on creativity, growth, and discovery. The school is known for its strong community roots, attention to the individual learner, commitment to experiential learning, and integrated outdoor experiences. The school remains committed to its progressive roots and ideals.
Billings opened in 1979, part of a wave on progressive women in the Pacific Northwest starting schools. For 18 years it served grade 4-6 before switching to 6-8 in 1996. Now located in a lovely North Seattle neighborhood, Billings draws from over 30 different public and private schools across the area. Enrollment ranges from 70-90, with an average class size of 15. The community is diverse, with 40% of families receiving need-based tuition assistance and 31% students of color.
Billings Middle School is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and a fully accredited member of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS). NWAIS is also recognized by the Washington State Board of Education. It is also a member of the Washington Federation of Independent Schools (WFIS) and Puget Sound Independent Schools (PSIS).

About the Position
Billings seeks an experienced, visionary educator and a curious learner to join a team of professionals responsible for innovative, authentic, and student-centered programming. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Head of School will help determine and guide the next strategic growth of Billings. The Head of School is responsible for leading, inspiring, supporting, and hiring a talented team of faculty and staff. The Head of School is also responsible for creating a culture of collaboration, and a close-knit, supportive community.
