About the School

The Galloway School, a PK-12 co-educational independent day school of 750 students, seeks a visionary leader to serve as Head of Upper Learning (equivalent to the more familiar role of an “Upper
School Principal,” Grades 9–12). This pivotal role will guide a vibrant student-centered, intellectually rich experiential secondary school community of 270-320 students committed to developing insightful and
engaged thinkers.

Galloway celebrates joyful learning at its core, leading students who are authentically and fully themselves to truly extraordinary outcomes. At Galloway, students aren’t just measured by grades:
they’re defined by the breadth and depth of their learning journey. The school’s founder believed in meeting each child where they are and that “joy in learning is vital and hard work is very important.”

Upper Learning at Galloway combines an engaging college-preparatory curriculum, including foundational, AP, and specialized electives such as marine biology, playwriting, multivariable calculus,
and more, with immersive experiential learning opportunities, including internships, community excursions, arts productions, athletic competitions, clubs, and one-on-one mentorship. Seniors graduate
with powerful personal narratives formed through senior capstones and multi-week excursions abroad or in the region.

Outside the classroom, Upper Learning bursts with creative energy. Students may join or launch any of over 48 dynamic clubs including Model UN, Mock Trial, Minority Empowerment Forum, Thespians,
Debate, Clubs in STEM, arts, leadership, world languages, publications, and special interest – and the list continues to grow. Varsity athletics further enrich the school experience, as approximately 80% of
Upper Learning students participate in at least one of the ten varsity sports offered.

This mix of rigorous academics, joyful learning, creative electives, hands-on learning, strong arts programs, club leadership, athletics, and mentorship forms a richly layered environment where students
truly discover who they are. Galloway students are notable for their authenticity and fearlessness.

Mission & Core Values

The Galloway School is a community where learning is joyful, individuals are valued, and self-discovery is encouraged. Galloway students confidently embrace challenges while developing the knowledge,
skills, and cultural competence to thrive as enlightened contributors in their chosen pathways.
