Background Check Disclosure- As an EC Candidate, it is important for you to know that a school will require a comprehensive review of references, background and credit checks, an Internet and social media search, and an education degree verification for all candidates under serious consideration. This may include requests addressed to any present or former employer, school, police department, financial institution, division of motor vehicles, consumer reporting agencies, or other entities, persons or agencies having knowledge about you.

In the past, when encountering unexpected information —such as questionable changes in employment status, alleged or actual criminal activity or those of moral turpitude, alcohol or drug offenses or improprieties, bankruptcies, lawsuits— Search Committees have expressed serious reservations and have often moved on to other candidates. By contrast, Committees that learn about such events, which have already been reasonably explained, are more inclined to continue considering those candidates.
