Resurrection Episcopal Day School (REDS) seeks a Head of School commencing July 2012. REDS is an independent, non-profit Montessori early childhood school for 84 children, 2 years 9 months through 6 years of age. Housed in the parish building of the Church of the Resurrection, a short distance from Central Park on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the school honors its Episcopal heritage while reaching out to children of all faiths. It is a community committed to establishing the intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical development of the complete human being according to the educational philosophy developed by Maria Montessori and guided by the principles of the Association Montessori Internationale.
Candidates for the position should have significant early childhood or elementary expertise; independent school experience and an understanding and appreciation of the Montessori philosophy of education are strongly preferred. Applicant must be a person of faith with an appreciation for the inclusive religious tradition of Episcopal schools; B.A. and M. Ed. required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
