New Canaan Country School (NCCS), located in New Canaan, CT, is home to 650 students in Beginners through Ninth Grade.  For ninety-five years, the school has combined an ongoing commitment to creative teaching and continuous self-evaluation with a deep belief in tradition and the educational value of fundamental skills.  Throughout its history, NCCS has emphasized the value of childhood and the role of experience in learning.  Head of School Tim Bazemore seeks an Assistant Head who will have primary responsibility for ensuringhigh quality teaching and fostering a culture of professional growth. The Assistant Head will provide strategic perspective and leadership on the senior administrative team, assume various leadership responsibilities across all areas of school operations, as determined by the Head, and oversee school operations in the Head’s absence. Candidates for the position should have significant senior administrative experience in independent or public schools, including elementary and middle school curriculum assessment and development. Outstanding writing and presentation skills are essential.  A master’s degree is required.  The compensation package, including benefits, housing and salary, is competitive and commensurate with experience.
