Founded in 1961 as an all girls’ school, Pingree has been a coeducational day school since 1971 with a current enrollment of 330 students, grades 9-12, who hail from 50 communities north of Boston. A faculty of 52 teaches 100 courses in 8 areas of study. An average class size is 15 students with a student/teacher ratio of 8:1. Twenty-two percent of the student body receives approximately $1 million in financial aid. Forty-two athletic teams compete in 24 interscholastic sports.

Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Pingree is situated on 105 acres in the midst of rolling fields and woodland on the North Shore of Boston. The campus is centered around the original manor house of the Pingree family and includes a new Head's residence. It is located about 40 minutes north of Boston, with some of the world’s most renowned educational and cultural institutions within easy reach.

The Board of Trustees seeks an outstanding and innovative educator to lead this dynamic school as it continues to advance as the premier day secondary school on the North Shore. The new Head must promote academic excellence as his or her primary goal, while leading key initiatives in the school's strategic plan. The new head also must be committed to fostering warm relationships with students, faculty and parents in a very supportive and close knit community.
