General Director Search for July 1, 2010
Colegio Interamericano de Guatemala seeks a General Director with a proven record of excellent, dynamic and strong leadership qualities, to be invested by a Board of Directors with the authority and responsibility for the overall direction of the school.
The ideal candidate will be an academic leader with experience managing the multi-faceted challenges of a bilingual, bicultural school community that fosters students’ intellectual, emotional, and moral development.
Qualities Sought
Required:
- Fluent in English, and proficient in Spanish
- Previous experience as a teacher (minimum of 5 years)
- Successful previous leadership experience in a Director position (minimum of 5 years), with a proven ability to execute, manage, organize and delegate.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and commitment among individuals and groups
- Effective communication skills to include speaking, listening and writing
- Strong vision and ability to articulate clear strategy
- Willingness to make a minimum three-year commitment
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Education or educational administration or the equivalent
- Collaborative approach to leadership, with the ability to ultimately make difficult decisions
- Inspires trust, self-confidence and models high standards of performance
- Knowledgeable of emerging research and best practices in the area of curriculum/instructional design, implementation and assessment
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and motivate qualified staff
- Proactive management style and skills required to respond to challenges presented by a culturally diverse community
- Demonstrated ability to enhance student performance, especially in identifying and closing the gaps in student achievement
- Committed to professional and staff development
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to an Operational Budget as approved by the Board of Directors
- Demonstrated support for traditional values
