Colegio Interamericano de Guatemala seeks a General Director with a proven record of excellent, dynamic and strong leadership qualities, to be invested by a Board of Directors with the authority and responsibility for the overall direction of the school. 

The ideal candidate will be an academic leader with experience managing the multi-faceted challenges of a bilingual, bicultural school community that fosters students’ intellectual, emotional, and moral development.

Qualities Sought


Required:

  • Fluent in English, and proficient in Spanish
  • Previous experience as a teacher (minimum of 5 years)
  • Successful previous leadership experience in a Director position (minimum of 5 years), with a proven ability to execute, manage, organize and delegate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and commitment among individuals and groups
  • Effective communication skills to include speaking, listening and writing
  • Strong vision and ability to articulate clear strategy
  • Willingness to make a minimum three-year commitment

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Education or educational administration or the equivalent
  • Collaborative approach to leadership, with the ability to ultimately make difficult decisions 
  • Inspires trust, self-confidence and models high standards of performance
  • Knowledgeable of emerging research and best practices in the area of curriculum/instructional design, implementation and assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and motivate qualified staff
  • Proactive management style and skills required to respond to challenges presented by a culturally diverse community
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance student performance, especially in identifying and closing the gaps in student achievement
  • Committed to professional and staff development
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to an Operational Budget as approved by the Board of Directors
  • Demonstrated support for traditional values
