The Athenian School, located 32 miles east of San Francisco, is a distinctive independent school which prepares its students for college and for lives of meaning and purpose. The Head of the Athenian Middle School assumes responsibility for complete oversight of the personnel and program of this division of 158 students and 18 faculty. Hiring, supervision, and support of faculty are central to the job, as are curriculum development and review. This division head also assumes responsibility for the middle school budget. Reporting to the Head of School, the Head of Middle School works closely with the Head of Upper School regarding coordination with the upper school; the Director of Admission regarding the admission process; the Dean of Equity and Inclusion regarding her initiatives; and the Director of Finance and Operations regarding budgets and facilities. The Head supervises the Dean of Students in the Middle School as well as two office personnel.

  • Work experience at an independent school
